Overview

A DNS-based cybersecurity platform serving both B2B and B2C users needed a complete product redesign. While the technology was powerful, the app failed to communicate its value.
The core challenges:
  • Users didn't understand what DNS protection meant or why they needed it
  • Onboarding didn't demonstrate value before asking for configuration
  • Outdated visual design made the app feel unreliable
  • Technical language alienated non-technical consumers
Our mission was to redesign the experience to make cybersecurity approachable—helping users understand the protection they're getting while simplifying the setup process that was causing abandonment.

01
Users couldn't see threats being blocked in real-time. Without visible proof of protection, many questioned whether the app was actually working.

02
The app required DNS configuration before users experienced any value. Many abandoned during this technical setup step without understanding why they were doing it.

Onboarding asked too much upfront

03
Terms like "DNS filtering," "threat intelligence," and "recursive queries" confused consumer users. B2B users understood the technology but wanted faster setup.
